Active Family Workshops

Positive PE is keen to support communities as a whole to become more active. We recognise that schools provide a great opportunity to encourage families to become more active together.

Active Family workshops can be focused on a physical activity that will most appeal to your young people’s families.

As part of our Active Family Workshop range we have provided ‘Purposeful Play Workshops’ at several Birmingham schools which families have enjoyed attending together. These are fun sessions for EYFS or KS1 children and a family member/carer, we support the adult and child to learn fun games to play together at home, in the park or on the way to school. The activities support the children’s physical and social development for example developing agility, balance, co-ordination, gross and fine motor skills, turn taking, instruction following and basic numeracy skills to name but a few.

The activities are inclusive and demonstrations minimise communication barriers. No specialist equipment is used, only items that can be found in the majority of households therefore there is no additional expense. All activities are demonstrated with an adaption for people with reduced mobility so everyone is welcome and included.
